MDFR FIRE STATION 68

The Dolphin Fire Rescue Station 68 is a 12,500 square foot, 1-story, 3-apparatus bay facility located on an approximate 1.3-acre parcel of land. The design program includes an entry feature clearly defined and obvious to the public approaching the facility. A lobby area was strategically located at the main public entrance to the station accommodating visitors and allowing emergency personnel to render medical assistance. The design also included offices, kitchen, dining area, day room, living room, study rooms, and lounging area, 14 dormitories along with adequate toilet and shower area. Other amenities include an exercise room, work areas for maintenance and modification of tools and general housekeeping of the apparatus bay, a bunker. The facility has been designed to comply with “Sustainable Building Program of Dade County and USGBC to get LEED Silver Certified. Although the County’s LEED prescription requires a minimum of Silver Certification, the Dolphin Fire Station will be the first station that aspires to achieve a net-zero operation. An innovative solar panel system has been incorporated into the project canopies and roof. The project also includes charging stations for electric cars.
